Lisa's Quilt....

I received a lovely email from 'Lisa' yesterday, attached to her email she had a photo of her quilt... this is what Lisa said ......
"I just started quilting and have completed my second quilt this evening. I added a "peeper" to this one and love it."
I did a tutorial a few weeks back on adding a 'peeper' and I was so thrilled to see that Lisa had put my tutorial into practice. Lisa should be so very proud of her quilt it is just stunning...and I was blown away that she took the time to send me an email and a photo of her quilt......
ain't blogging grand.... Peg... :>) ...

Red Brolly

I have had this little project on the back burner for a while, but it is time to continue...
'Polka Dot Girls'...Red Brolly ... Bronwyn Hayes... I purchased this as a BOM thru Kerry at 'Cottage on the Hill'.....today the sky is a little overcast, it would be so nice to have some rain, it has been a while, and our farmers could do with a bit of a down pour....these photos are taken from my front verandah, we live across the road from the town football oval, tennis and netball courts as well as a small park with swings and slippery dip, this was great when my boys were growing up....take care and happy quilting... Disappearing Wildrose.....

This was my project today at "Club Quilt"...I am very pleased with the finished product....I have used fabric from three charm packs, I used all the darks but only some of the lights...the block is called disappearing nine patch....join 9 charm squares - 3 x 3 (1 light for the centre the rest dark) then cut down the centre of your nine patch and then cross cut, you end up with 4 blocks....I made 9 large blocks which then made 36 smaller blocks...join your 36 blocks (6x6) ...I chose to join mine in this fashion but there are so many ways of joining I am sure...yes, I did add a peeper of the red fabric shown in my previous post and then I just added a 6.5 inch border.....Moda...Wildrose....I need a name...what about "Disappearing Wildrose" ...... How to add a peeper....

Sorry I did not have a quilt top that needed a peeper so I am doing the demo on a block, but I am sure everyone can imagine the first photo is a quilt top. I always cut my peepers 1(one) inch wide...measure the first side of your quilt, if necessary join the fabric, so you have a strip that is the length of your first side....
Now fold your peeper in half, as shown, wrong sides together, you can press it if you like I find that it really doesn't need to be pressed at this stage.
Pin the folded peeper along the edge of the quilt...use the same principal that you would use if you were adding a border.
Pin all the way along, do not put tight, as it will pucker....
Pin the peeper to both the left and right sides.
Then sew each side down....but only sew in about 1/8 of an inch, not the normal 1/4 inch...this stitch line is basically holding the peeper in place, when you sew your border on it will secure the peeper..(doing it this way you will also hide your first sewing line)..now press your peepers.
After sewing the right and left sides down you can now do the same procedure and sew the peeper on the top and the bottom....press these down..
Once all sewn you can now add your other border...and thats it....I hope my instructions are easy to follow and I look forward to seeing lots of peepers around blogland.
